Hey everyone, happy 2020! For those who are just joining in for the very first time, welcome and thank you for dropping by. This video is part 2 out of a 2 part series in exploring colour in character design. If you haven’t watched part one of the series, we explored the various colour schemes and how they are used in TV shows to influence how we view a character. If that’s something that interests you, please feel free to check it out! This part is going to be super light just to start us off to the new year. We’re going to pick up where we left off, and apply those principles of colour into colouring an actual character. This is a beginner level class designed to share with you my step by step process of designing a colour scheme for my character. Similar to part one, the only materials needed are our imagination and art medium of your choice, as well as the basic theory of colour in our minds. So! If you’re ready to embark on this short journey with me, click the enroll button now!

In this Skillshare class, you will learn how to design your own business cards. Your project will be to gather your business information including your logo, brand colors and your contact information. Then you will put your information into a cohesive design that reflects your brand. I use Adobe Illustrator, but you can use whichever software you want. You can then print your own business cards. I recommend Moo.com. They have high quality papers and allow for multiple designs in a single order. A beginner understanding of Illustrator is all you need to take this course. I will explain exactly what I do and will walk you through the steps I take to create my logo, how I choose colors, and craft my business cards to reflect my business. We will start with the basics of logo design, including typography and even what shapes to use in your design. Then we will go through the top 10 things I consider when designing business cards, including color theory and fonts. Next, we will go through several iterations of business cards for the same brand to see the endless possibilities of creating your own unique business cards. Next, we will walk through the entire saving and uploading process so that you know exactly how to get your design print ready. It is important to have business cards with you so that wherever you are, you have the ability to network easily! I hope you will join me in this class in creating your business cards for your creative business. I can't wait to see what you design!

Human beings are one of the most popular and fun subjects in art, but a lot of artists struggle when working on faces. In this class we will look closely at faces, and learn the techniques for quickly and correctly capturing them in quick sketches. I will be using mostly watercolor for my demonstrations with addition of some water soluble pencils, markers and oil pastels, but you can start practicing and applying the information from this class even with just a regular pencil and some sketch paper. These principles are my check list for fast figure sketches, but they are also applicable when working on longer and more detailed pieces, like portraits. I will also reveal several secrets that will help you to make your figurative sketches more expressive, dynamic and appealing to viewers.
